Today was the day to decorate our Christmas tree! I know we should wait until Advent is done, but we wanted to enjoy it now and we will try to keep it up until the beginning of January. It always makes me sad to see trees waiting for the garbage truck a day after Christmas. Our church won't decorate until Dec 24 and then take things down on Jan 7 after the Epiphany. Traditionally the 12 days of Christmas begins on Christmas Day and Advent is the time leading up and preparing for Christmas and the Christmas season which actually begins on Christmas Day! The Epiphany is when the 3 wise men reached Jesus to bring him their gifts.
We cut down our tree last week and decorated today. It was a lot of fun. We put Christmas carols on and the boys enjoyed a candy cane while we worked. Here are a few pictures.
We have a lot of ornaments with some sentimental value. We got this one in 2006 at our church in Irvine, CA. They had a dinner for all of the volunteers in the church with a keepsake for us and since I was in the choir David and I were invited. We also have one that says "Hope". I wish we had the third in the trio "Love", because after all that is the greatest of these:)
Have you decorated your tree yet or are you holding out for Dec. 24? If you are waiting till after Advent, I think that is wonderful and I would love to hear from you!
Tonight we will go look at Christmas lights. Another fun tradition.
Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!! And please stop and see me on Facebook soon!
